ANOUK series 4
I am proud and finally happy to share to you, ANOUK! a project that I have been a part of. This is the launch of the 4th series and my responsibility was to producing Nav’s vision in terms of 9 out of 10 fashions for this collection.
WHO IS ANOUK?
Anouk is a homage to Caprice and other vintage fashion dolls created by British artist and designer Nav Sikand. She captures the alure and style of 1960’s being influenced by French actresses Anouk Aimee, Anna Karina, Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau, as well the French dolls Caprice, Mily and Sylvie.
My soul purpose regarding this collection, and hopefully future ones, was to reproduce Nav’s sketches, and vision into the small scale that Anouk has.
As a new body to my portfolio, I had to start discovering Anouk’s sizes and proportion, and manage a way to extract her proportions and was able to make fitting garments that worked for her body, small wait and wide hips, she is a lady that get’s noticed.
The most challenging part for me in creating the 9 fashions for Anouk, was the understanding of a vintage doll and vintage fashion; since I am not a vintage designer, and I haven’t experimented with this kind o proportions, somehow my vision contradicted the designer’s. Thankfully with Nav’s patience and notes I manage to make his collection a reality.
All styles are different because of fitting, fabric, details, but each challenge that came with it was well received and I am truly happy that I was part of it.
The styles bring the quality that I have got you used to, lined pieces, fabrics that give that sense some closure and a complete feeling. It’s like if you resize the small outfit and make it in full human scale, it works perfectly.
